We love this place and down side is finding parking. The restaurant isn't crazy busy just in a busy area. Found our new favorite frozen drink here (blackberry crown frozen lemonade) the seafood fondue is great we love to get it with fries and make seafood cheese fries.
The atmosphere was great! We were there on a Sunday afternoon and there was live music, loved it. But the food was only ok. I ordered the stuffed flounder with grits which wasn't bad but it wasn't anything to make me say "yea we gotta come back!" My husband had the barbecue shrimp and grits which was just disgusting to me. Tasted like worcestershire sauce soup! I suggest staying away from that if you do happen to go.
Le bon temps rouler in here my peeps. Throw on some Dr. John and throw back a cold Abita! The seafood express is in the station, next stop crawfish junction. Shrimp, oysters and gumbo on deck. Crack yer pie hole wide open for delivery.
Charlie's is an EASY 5/5 stars for me! It's one of those hole in the walls that you stumble upon and then you leave with your entire life changed.
Pictured is the crawfish etouffee that came with a scoop of white rice. I finished the plate it was so good- stomach pains be damned! 😂
The only thing is that their coleslaw is not traditional coleslaw and almost akin to Kimchi. I personally loved this but it was a surprise. Still worth a try!
They had Louisana Hot Sauce, so they start off with 4 stars just for that. The boudin balls were delicious. I could have done without the mustard sauce, but I guess it depends on your preference. It was my first time having gumbo, and it was 🔥🔥. In the event my wife gets sick, she wants me to come get her gumbo from here. She is aware that we live 25 minutes away. She said it's that good. Fish was crispy, hot, and fresh. This is a nice spot to check out!!
